Key Takeaways

  • Every SAGreens batch is germination tested before dispatch, typically 85 to 96 percent, with the figure for your batch available on request.
  • All seed is NPOP-certified organic, untreated and non-GMO, with no fungicide coating - the quality standard a raw-eaten crop requires.
  • Wholesale rates start at 500g per variety, saving roughly 25 to 45 percent per gram, rising to 40 to 60 percent at 1kg and above.
  • Seeds ship across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad in 3 to 5 days, free above ₹499.
  • October to March is Delhi's strongest growing window, and indoor trays are unaffected by the winter air quality that settles on terrace vegetables.

Delhi is the largest microgreen seed market in India and one of the least well served. Nurseries around Khari Baoli, Lodhi Road and the Ghazipur mandi sell field vegetable seed intended for outdoor planting, frequently coated with fungicide and almost never sold with a germination figure. That is the wrong input for a crop harvested in seven days and eaten raw. SAGreens ships NPOP-certified organic microgreen seeds across Delhi NCR, untreated, non-GMO and germination tested before every dispatch, with the batch figure available on request. Delhi also has one real advantage over coastal India: dry air. Seed keeps far better in a Delhi cupboard than in Mumbai or Goa. For the full buying guide see our microgreen seeds Delhi guide.

Why Delhi NCR Growers Buy Seed From SAGreens

Germination Tested Before Every Dispatch

We test each batch and record the result before it ships, typically 85 to 96 percent depending on variety. Ask for your batch figure and we will give it to you. Most sellers cannot, because they have never tested.

Best Quality: NPOP Organic and Untreated

Certified organic under India's National Programme for Organic Production, untreated, non-GMO, with no fungicide coating. Field seed sold for outdoor planting is often chemically treated and unsafe on a crop eaten raw within days.

Wholesale Rates for Commercial Growers

Wholesale pricing starts at 500g per variety, saving roughly 25 to 45 percent per gram, and 40 to 60 percent at 1kg and above. Custom pricing from 5kg. Same certified seed as retail, quoted against your monthly volume.

Full NCR Coverage

Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, 3 to 5 days by express courier from our Pune farm. Free shipping above ₹499.

Suited to Delhi's Extremes

Delhi swings from 45C summers to near-freezing winters. We advise on variety and timing for both ends, so you are not fighting the season with the wrong seed.

Clean Growing Through Winter Smog

Microgreens grow indoors on a rack in 7 to 14 days. Unlike a terrace vegetable patch, nothing settles on them through Delhi's winter air quality season.

Wholesale Microgreen Seed Rates for Delhi NCR

Delhi NCR has more commercial microgreen growers than any other region in India, and retail packs stop making sense quickly once you are running trays weekly.

Wholesale pricing starts at 500g per variety. Below that, standard retail pack pricing applies. Per-gram savings run roughly 25 to 45 percent at 500g and 40 to 60 percent at 1kg and above, with custom pricing and lead times from 5kg. Rates depend on variety and monthly volume, so we quote against a real requirement rather than publishing a fixed list.

The seed is identical to retail. Same NPOP certification, same untreated non-GMO stock, same germination testing before dispatch. A supplier who drops quality at wholesale volume is not giving you a discount, they are giving you a different product.

Typical Delhi NCR wholesale buyers: commercial growers supplying restaurants in Connaught Place, Hauz Khas and Cyber Hub; hotel and cloud kitchen groups running their own grow rooms; and garden retailers in Gurugram and Noida stocking tested microgreen seed rather than field seed. At 50 trays a week you are using 1 to 1.2kg of seed a month, which is comfortably into the 1kg tier.

Send your monthly volume per variety on WhatsApp for a quote. Our bulk microgreen seeds guide covers national pricing tiers and the quality checks worth running when a bulk batch arrives.

How We Test Germination, and Why It Decides Your Real Cost

Every batch is germination tested before dispatch and the result recorded. Typical figures run 85 to 96 percent depending on variety. Ask for the figure on your batch and we will give it to you.

This matters more than pack price, and the arithmetic is simple. Take radish at 10g per tray. Seed at ₹160 per 100g germinating at 96 percent costs about ₹16 per usable tray. Seed at ₹90 per 100g germinating at 70 percent needs around 14g to fill the same tray, so ₹12.60 - cheaper, until the first failure.

A failed tray does not only lose seed. It loses the cocopeat, seven to ten days of rack occupancy, the labour already spent, and any order you cannot deliver. One failure in a fifty-tray rotation erases the saving across the whole batch.

Test it yourself. Count ten seeds onto damp kitchen paper, fold it over, check after 48 hours. Eight or more sprouted is a healthy batch. Fewer than six and you should be sowing more densely or replacing it. Do this when any new batch arrives, from us or anyone else.

Delivery Across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad

Seed ships from our Pune farm by express courier, typically 3 to 5 business days across the National Capital Region. Free shipping above ₹499, which two or three 100g packs will clear.

Delhi: South Delhi including Greater Kailash, Saket, Hauz Khas, Vasant Kunj and Defence Colony; Central Delhi including Connaught Place, Karol Bagh and Paharganj; West Delhi including Dwarka, Janakpuri, Rajouri Garden and Punjabi Bagh; North Delhi including Rohini, Pitampura, Model Town and Civil Lines; East Delhi including Mayur Vihar, Preet Vihar, Laxmi Nagar and Dilshad Garden.

Wider NCR: Gurugram including DLF Phases, Sohna Road, Golf Course Road and Sushant Lok; Noida and Greater Noida across all sectors; Faridabad; Ghaziabad including Indirapuram, Vaishali and Raj Nagar Extension.

We deliver fresh cut microgreens only within Pune. Everywhere else, including Delhi, buys seed and grows their own, which is fresher than anything that can survive a courier anyway.

Growing Microgreens in Delhi's Climate

Delhi is a climate of two extremes and one long good season.

October to March - the strong season. Temperatures between 10C and 28C suit every variety we sell. This is when to grow the slower and more delicate crops: beetroot, coriander, basil, pea shoots. Trays need little management.

April to June - the hard season. 40C to 47C dries a tray out in hours. Grow indoors away from windows, water twice daily, and shorten blackout by a day since seedlings develop faster in heat. Stick to fast varieties.

July to September - monsoon. Humidity rises but stays well below coastal levels. Add airflow with a fan and space trays out. Manageable, and far easier than the same season in Goa or Kerala.

The dry-air advantage. Delhi's low humidity is genuinely good for seed storage. A sealed jar in a Delhi cupboard holds germination for years, where the same jar in Mumbai needs silica gel and refrigeration. Buying in larger quantities makes more sense here than almost anywhere else in India.

Winter air quality. Between November and January, outdoor growing in Delhi means particulate settling on your crop. Microgreens grow indoors under light on a rack in 7 to 14 days, which sidesteps the problem entirely - one of the honest reasons indoor growing has taken off in Delhi faster than in most Indian cities.

A first order of radish, sunflower and green gram comes to ₹353 and fills roughly thirty trays, which is two to three months of growing for a household. Browse the full range on the SAGreens seed shop, or compare rates nationally in our India seed price guide.

A note on the two small packs. Broccoli at 20g and purple sango radish at 25g look expensive next to the 100g packs, and per gram they are. Both are premium restaurant varieties where a tray needs far less seed, and both are usually bought as an addition to a base rotation rather than as a starting point.

Setting Up a Grow Rack in a Delhi Apartment

Microgreens need vertical space and a bright corner, not floor area. That is why they suit apartment living better than any other home-growing crop, and why a first setup costs less than most people expect.

What you actually need. Shallow trays around 25cm by 35cm with drainage, a second tray underneath for bottom-watering, cocopeat as the growing medium, and somewhere with indirect light. A three-shelf steel or plastic rack holds six to nine trays in about half a square metre of floor.

What you do not need. A heat mat, in any Indian city. Grow lights, unless you are growing through a genuinely dark stretch. Hydroponic mats, which cost more than cocopeat and do not perform better for most varieties. Sterilising equipment, if your seed is clean and your airflow is adequate.

Realistic first spend. Six trays, a bag of cocopeat and three 100g seed packs comes to roughly ₹900 to ₹1,200 all in. That produces trays continuously for two to three months. The rack itself is optional at the start, since a windowsill and a table will do for the first few sowings.

Cocopeat, not garden soil. Cocopeat drains better, carries far less fungal load, and is cheap and available everywhere in India. Garden soil in a shallow tray holds water and brings weed seed and fungal spores with it. This is the single most common reason a first tray fails.

Sow in succession, not all at once. Three or four trays sown a few days apart gives a staggered harvest and teaches you how your particular room behaves. Sowing six trays on day one gives you six trays of the same mistake. Our beginner seeds guide works through a first month in detail.

Selling Microgreens in Delhi NCR: What the Market Looks Like

Delhi NCR has the deepest commercial microgreen market in India, and it splits into buyer types that behave very differently.

Restaurants and hotels. Concentrated in Connaught Place, Hauz Khas, Aerocity, Cyber Hub and Golf Course Road. Hotel groups and organised chains run supplier onboarding that asks for FSSAI registration and input documentation as routine. They pay well and order consistently, but the paperwork is not optional and an account is usually lost quietly when a grower cannot answer.

Cloud kitchens. NCR has more cloud kitchen capacity than any other Indian region. Many now run their own small grow rooms rather than buying cut greens, which makes them seed customers rather than produce customers. This is the fastest-growing part of our NCR wholesale volume.

Direct-to-home subscriptions. Gurugram and Noida apartment complexes support weekly subscription boxes well, because the density means one delivery run serves many households. This is the most accessible entry point for a new grower and needs no restaurant relationship.

What it costs to start. A 50-tray weekly rotation producing around 10kg a month, sold across mixed channels at an average of ₹140 per 100g, brings roughly ₹14,000 monthly revenue before costs. Seed at that volume runs ₹2,000 to ₹4,000. Our cost and profit guide works through rack economics that transfer directly to an NCR operation.

FSSAI. Selling commercially in India requires registration. Basic Registration covers turnover under ₹12 lakh at ₹100 a year, with a State Licence above that. Our guide to untreated seed for commercial growers covers the documentation buyers and inspectors actually ask for.

How Much Seed to Order, and How Often

The most common ordering mistake is buying too much of too many varieties at once. Seed is alive and its germination declines from the moment it is packed, so quantity should follow consumption rather than enthusiasm.

Household growing, one to two trays a week. Two or three varieties in 100g packs. Radish at 10g a tray means a single 100g pack covers ten trays, which is five to ten weeks. Reorder when you are down to roughly a quarter of a pack.

Serious home growing, four to six trays a week. Three or four varieties, 100g to 200g each, reordering every two months. This is the point at which the free-shipping threshold stops mattering because every order clears it.

Small commercial, 25 trays a week. Roughly 1 to 1.2kg of seed a month across your variety mix. This is the entry point for wholesale tiers, and where per-gram pricing starts to move your margin rather than your grocery budget.

Full commercial, 100 trays a week. 4 to 5kg a month. Order against a rolling three-month forecast, not a single large annual buy, and hold a small buffer of your two highest-volume varieties so a courier delay never stops production.

How long seed keeps. Stored airtight and cool, most varieties hold good germination for two to three years, with radish and mustard the most durable and coriander and spinach declining fastest. Test any batch that has been open more than six months before committing a full sowing to it. Our seed storage and shelf life guide has viability figures by variety.

Delhi Water Hardness and What It Does to a Tray

This is the one Delhi-specific growing problem nobody warns you about. Much of the NCR runs on groundwater or blended supply with high total dissolved solids, and in parts of Dwarka, Rohini, Najafgarh and outer Gurugram that figure is high enough to matter for a shallow tray.

What you see. A white crust forming on the cocopeat surface after four or five days, stems that look stalled, and germination that starts strongly then stops. Growers usually blame the seed. It is more often the water.

Why a tray is more sensitive than a pot. A microgreen tray holds a small volume of medium and you water it repeatedly over a short cycle, with nothing draining away to carry salts with it. Dissolved solids concentrate at the surface, which is exactly where a seedling root sits.

What to do. If your building runs an RO system, use that water for trays. If not, letting tap water stand overnight in an open vessel helps a little, though it does less than people hope, since standing water sheds chlorine rather than dissolved salts. The most effective single change is bottom-watering: pour into the lower tray and let the medium draw water up, so salts are not repeatedly deposited on the surface.

Flush between crops. If you reuse cocopeat, rinse it thoroughly before resowing. Salt carried over from a previous cycle compounds quickly.

None of this makes Delhi a hard place to grow. It is one adjustment, made once, and it explains most of the unexplained early failures we hear about from NCR growers.
