Microgreen Growing Mix — Ready to Use (1kg)

Washed low-EC cocopeat blended with vermicompost and composted cow dung, bagged ready to use. Open it, fill the tray and sow: no soaking a block, no rinsing out salts, no mixing. The cocopeat in this is washed, which is the difference between it and our plain cocopeat block.

₹249 / 1kg

Health Benefits

  • •Ready to use, so no soaking and no rinsing before you sow
  • •Washed low-EC cocopeat, unlike the plain block which needs rinsing
  • •Vermicompost and composted cow dung for crops you take past the first cut
  • •Holds moisture for bottom watering without going waterlogged
  • •One bag rather than buying and blending three things

Frequently Asked Questions

What is in this microgreen growing mix?

Washed low-EC cocopeat, vermicompost and composted cow dung. The cocopeat gives the structure and water holding, the vermicompost and cow dung add the nutrients. It arrives blended and bagged, so there is nothing to mix.

Should I buy the growing mix or the plain cocopeat block?

Buy the mix if you want to open a bag and sow. Buy the cocopeat block if you do not mind soaking it and rinsing the salts out, because it works out cheaper per tray. For a seven to fourteen day microgreen crop the plain block grows just as well, since the seed carries its own energy for that window. The mix is bought for convenience and for crops you take past the first cut.

Do microgreens need a mix with nutrients in it?

Not for a single cut. A microgreen seed carries enough energy to reach harvest on an inert medium, which our cocopeat guide explains in full. Nutrients start to matter when you regrow pea shoots for a second cut, run wheatgrass on, or keep a tray going longer than the usual window. We would rather say that plainly than sell the mix on a benefit it does not have.

Do I need to rinse this mix before using it?

No. The cocopeat in it is already washed to a low EC, which is the main thing that separates it from our plain cocopeat block. Fill the tray, moisten until it feels like a well-wrung sponge, and sow.

How deep should the mix be in a microgreen tray?

Two to three centimetres, levelled before sowing. Our 600 x 300 mm tray set takes roughly that depth across the holed tray. Level matters more than depth, because small seed rolls into any dip and a tray sown into hollows comes up patchy.

How much does microgreen growing mix cost in India?

₹249 for a 1kg bag from SAGreens. Delivery is charged at checkout by order weight. Per tray it is a few rupees, and the saving against the plain cocopeat block is small enough that most home growers choose the mix for the time it saves.

Can I reuse the mix for a second crop?

Not for another edible crop. A spent tray carries root mass and whatever spores were around, and microgreens are eaten raw. Empty it into a garden bed or a compost heap, where the vermicompost and cow dung in it are genuinely useful.

Can I return a bag of growing mix?

Within 7 days if it is unused and unopened, with the return courier paid by you. An opened bag cannot be restocked. Full terms are on our return policy page.

Where can I buy microgreen growing mix near me in India?

Ready-blended mixes made for microgreens are not something most nurseries carry; what they stock is potting soil, which is too rich and too heavy for a tray. If you are searching for growing mix near you and finding only potting soil, that is why. We ship from Pune across India, and our guide to growing microgreens at home runs through a first tray end to end.

Can I buy the growing mix in bulk?

1kg is the listed size. For larger quantities message us through our contact page with how much and which city, and we will quote the mix and the courier together.
