Microgreen Growing Supplies

Everything a tray needs except the seed. We sell these because we grow on them: the same trays and the same medium our own crop runs on in Pune, rather than whatever a catalogue had cheapest.

Which growing medium should you buy?

This is the only real choice on this page, and it is a choice about your time rather than about the crop. For a seven to fourteen day microgreen crop both media grow the same thing, because the seed carries its own energy for that window.

What a first tray needs

A tray set

One holed tray for the crop, one solid tray underneath for the water. Bottom watering is what keeps the leaves dry.

Tray set, ₹460

A growing medium

Two to three centimetres of cocopeat or mix, levelled flat. Level matters more than depth.

Growing mix, ₹249

Seed

Fenugreek and mustard are the cheapest trays to run, at roughly ₹8 to ₹19 of seed each.

24 seed varieties

New to it? Our guide to growing microgreens at home runs through a first tray end to end, and the cocopeat guide covers soaking, depth and why reusing it is a bad idea.

Growing supplies questions

What do I need to start growing microgreens?

Three things: a tray, a growing medium and seed. The tray set gives you a holed tray for the crop and a solid tray underneath to hold water. The medium is either a cocopeat block you soak and rinse yourself, or the ready-to-use mix. Seed is on our microgreen seed catalogue, where the cheapest varieties to grow are fenugreek and mustard at roughly 8 to 19 rupees of seed per tray.

Should I buy the cocopeat block or the growing mix?

The block if you do not mind soaking it and rinsing the salts out, because it costs less per tray. The mix if you would rather open a bag and sow. For a seven to fourteen day crop both grow the same thing, because the seed carries its own energy for that window. The mix only starts to matter when you regrow pea shoots for a second cut or run wheatgrass on.

Why does the tray set have one tray with holes and one without?

Because that is what bottom watering needs. The solid tray holds the water, the holed tray sits in it, and the crop draws moisture up through the medium so the leaves stay dry. Wet leaves are how most home trays go mouldy, which is the commonest reason a crop fails in Indian humidity.

How much growing medium does one tray take?

Two to three centimetres across a 600 by 300 mm tray, levelled before sowing. Level matters more than depth: small seed rolls into any dip, and a tray sown into hollows comes up patchy.

Can I reuse the medium for a second crop?

Not for another edible crop. A spent tray carries root mass and whatever spores were around, and microgreens are eaten raw. Empty it onto a garden bed or a compost heap instead, where it is genuinely useful. The trays themselves are reusable for many cycles once rinsed and dried.

Do you deliver growing supplies across India?

Yes, by courier from Pune, with delivery charged at checkout by order weight. One exception: the 5kg cocopeat block is over the 2kg band our courier table covers, so its delivery is quoted by message rather than priced at checkout.

Where can I buy microgreen growing supplies near me in India?

Nurseries stock seedling trays and potting soil, which are made for transplanting rather than for a tray of microgreens: the trays are shallower and celled, and the soil is too rich and too heavy. If that is what you are finding near you, ordering is the practical answer. We ship from Pune across India and the same trays and medium our own crop runs on arrive wherever you are.

Do you sell growing supplies in bulk?

Yes, but by message rather than by cart. Trays and coir are bulky, so the courier cost moves more than the goods do and a quote has to cover both. Tell us how many trays or how much medium and which city, and we will price it. Seed wholesale starts at 500g a variety and is covered on our seed supplier page.

Can I return growing supplies?

Within 7 days of delivery if the item is unused and unopened, with the return courier paid by you. Opened bags of growing medium cannot be restocked. Fresh microgreens and seed carry different terms, all set out on our return policy page.
